Build your own padel coaching business, with a mentor in your corner
I'm putting together a mentoring partnership for aspiring padel coaches who want to coach in their own area, with practical support from someone who's been coaching people for over 35 years.
You don't need to be a pro player. I'm looking for the right people: good communicators who love the game and want to build something of their own.
More courts, more players, not enough coaches
Padel is the fastest-growing racket sport in Britain. Venues are opening, players are signing up, and the demand for friendly, knowledgeable coaching is only going one way.
The sport is booming
New padel courts keep opening across the UK and the North West, and every new venue needs good coaches to grow its player base.
Players want proper coaching
Most new players come from tennis, squash or no racket sport at all. They pick padel up fast, then hit a ceiling without someone to show them the game.
Coaching is about people
Technique matters, but the coaches who build a following are the ones who make sessions fun, clear and welcoming for every age and level.
The programme is new. The experience isn't.
I've been a personal trainer since 1989, helping people get fitter, move better and stay active. Fifteen years of triathlon taught me how to train smart and stay consistent. Then I found padel and I was hooked.
Today I'm a BPCA-qualified coach based at Birkdale Padel Club, working towards my LTA Level 2, and preparing to compete for an over-50s national ranking. I coach players of every age and level, with a real speciality in older and returning players.
This partnership brings all of that together: the coaching, the fitness, and the practical side of running a self-employed coaching business.
The sports change. Helping people play them well doesn't.

You don't need to be a pro. You do need to be the right person.
I'll share the training, materials and support. What I can't teach is attitude, so this is what matters most.
A people person
You enjoy helping others and can explain things simply, without making anyone feel out of their depth.
Passionate about padel
You play, you watch, you think about the game. That enthusiasm is what keeps players coming back.
Committed to qualifying
You hold, or are working towards, a recognised padel coaching qualification such as BPCA or LTA.
Self-motivated
You're happy organising your own diary and taking ownership of growing your coaching in your area.
A relationship builder
You're willing to get to know club owners, players and local groups, and to follow up and stay in touch.
Ready to learn
You don't need to be a top player. You do need to take feedback well and keep improving.
Patient and consistent
You understand that building a regular client base takes time and steady effort.
Honest and reliable
Turning up on time, doing what you say and putting players first. That's how reputations are built.
Starting small
This isn't about putting a coach on every court overnight. I'll start with a handful of carefully chosen partners, so each one gets proper time and attention.
That gives us room to shape the programme together, learn what works and get it right. If you'd like to be involved early, I'd love to hear from you.
What I'm building into the partnership
The final package is still being developed. The aim is to give you a practical toolkit, so you're not starting from scratch.
1-to-1 mentoring
Regular sessions with me to work on your coaching, your confidence and your next steps.
On-court shadowing
Join my sessions to see how I run groups, private lessons and mixed-ability classes.
Session plans & drills
Structured session plans, drill libraries and progressions you can take straight onto court.
Fitness & injury prevention
Warm-ups, movement and conditioning know-how from 35+ years as a personal trainer.
Coaching older players
How to adapt sessions for over-50s and returning players, one of the fastest-growing groups in padel.
Marketing & social media
Practical help getting known locally, from social posts to Google reviews.
Your online presence
Guidance on setting up a simple, professional coaching website and booking process.
Working with venues
How to approach clubs, agree terms and build long-term relationships with venue owners.
The business basics
Pricing, insurance, safeguarding and the admin side of being a self-employed coach.
Ongoing support
Someone to call when you hit a problem, plus regular check-ins as you grow.
Local focus
We'll agree the area you'll focus on, so partners support each other rather than compete.
A coaching network
As the group grows, partners will share ideas, cover and experience with each other.
Interested? Here's how it works
No pressure at any stage. We'll make sure it's the right fit for both of us before anyone commits.
- 1
Register your interest
Tell me a little about yourself, your padel background and the area you'd like to coach in.
- 2
Have a chat with Trevor
If it looks like a good fit, we'll arrange an informal call or meet up at the club to get to know each other.
- 3
Stay in the loop
As the programme develops, I'll keep you updated on how it will work, what's included and the costs.
- 4
Explore the details
When I'm ready to take on partners, you'll see the full picture: support, commitment, area and fees.
- 5
Decide together
No pressure at any point. A partnership only works if it's right for both of us.
What will it cost?
The fees are still being worked out. I expect there to be a setup cost for your initial training and onboarding, plus an ongoing monthly contribution for mentoring, materials and support. Exact figures will be shared openly before anyone is asked to commit.
Initial setup
Training, shadowing and getting you set up to coach.
Ongoing mentoring
Regular support, materials and continued development.
Full details first
Nobody proceeds without understanding the complete picture.
